Porque há esperança para a árvore que, se for cortada, ainda se renovará, e não cessarão os seus renovos. Se envelhecer na terra a sua raiz, e o seu tronco morrer no pó, ao cheiro das águas brotará, e dará ramos como uma planta.
But there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Although its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump begins to die in the soil, at the scent of water it will flourish and put forth shoots like a new plant.
Porque si el árbol fuere cortado, aún queda de él esperanza; retoñará aún, y sus renuevos no faltarán. Si se envejeciere en la tierra su raíz, y su tronco fuere muerto en el polvo, al percibir el agua reverdecerá, y echará renuevos como planta nueva.
Un arbre a de l’espérance: Quand on le coupe, il repousse, Il produit encore des rejetons; Quand sa racine a vieilli dans la terre, Quand son tronc meurt dans la poussière, Il reverdit à l’approche de l’eau, Il pousse des branches comme une jeune plante.
